Doolhof tasting with D' Vine Wine Club

D' Vine Wine ClubMy partner and I attended D' Vine Wine Club's Doolhof Estate wine tasting and, thanks to my pedantic tasting notes, won a bottle of Renaissance, a Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend. The owner of the estate, Mr Kerrison, who was there adding an amusing side commentary to the tasting, said such delicious things about this wine I couldn't let it pass me by.

Doolhof is tucked high up the mountains behind Wellington toward Bain's Kloof affording a cooler climate producing superb, award-winning wines. While their Dark Lady Pinotage produces the choc-mocha flavours we've come to enjoy, my personal favourite of those we tasted was the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon from their Signatures range. As a full flavoured yet easy drinking wine to purchase we'll be looking out for Cape Boar, a Bordeaux blend in their Cape Series range.

The estate sounds gorgeous and well worth a visit. If you join their Denizens of Doolhof Wine Club you'll receive a 15% discount on cellar roor prices on all purchases. Also worth noting for a day or weekend trip to celebrate the Cape is Wellington's Wine Harvest Festival from 20th to 22nd March 2010. Access passes are R60.00 and free shuttle service is provided.
