Beyond Romantic LoveA talk on the Myth of Romantic Love had me thinking. The need to move beyond limited ideas about love and romance is not completely new. Yet still so many of us appear to remain stuck, struggling to realise romance fantasies - either searching desperately for the dream partner to fulfil and complete a sketchy picture, or struggling to hold an existing relationship from going so wrong, again.

Reflections from Tantra in Kadampa Buddhism

I attended an introduction to Tantra in the Kadampa Buddhism tradition. As usual the Buddhist terminology had me shaking my head in confusion. I've interpreted the gist of it in flavours I am more familiar with, starting with some background as to why one would even consider a practise in Tantra in the first place.

Rain Only Falls Into Beauty

A talk at Phakalane by Raindance Network founders Niall Campbell and Nicola Robins addressed how traditional Southern African teachings can contribute to facing our current ecological challenges. They spoke of our modern, western non-relationship to chaos and a penny dropped.

Inner Soulmate

As a young child I was overwhelmed by the notion of this one somewhere in the world I would meet and fall in love with. What if she was in China? Would chance succeed in bringing us together? Would she love me back? Childhood innocence yet, even in adulthood, there appears to remain this longing for the ideal partner where success in finding them is to be our defining life accomplishment under which all else hangs.
