The Erotic and Beyond - Tantra Foundation

Having completed a profound journey into the inner-soulmate I now have an opportunity to work with the erotic. The fantasies of our eroticism are rich areas for exploring the unconscious and in doing so bring about greater self-awareness.

My own exploration of fantasy was limited in part by the extent to which I struggled to acknowledge, even to myself, that I had any fantasies. I had shut them deeply away and just bringing some into mind was a process.

Something I find interesting about fantasies is that they are most exciting the less available they are to actual experience. It's very much like the idea of romantic love in that respect, where the allure and energy comes from what is beyond our grasp and free in our limitless imagination. Typically, I believe, most would really prefer their fantasies to stay that way. The reality of meeting with a fantasy my not live up to the imagination and at worst may even ruin it. Or, as for me, the encounter could evoke deep fear, self-judgement or shame and be very challenging.

This is precisely the point. In the encounter we meet ourselves in an intimacy and vulnerability we do not normally permit. It is a unique opportunity to unpack layers of unconsciousness that do not serve us, and to integrate aspects of ourselves that have been suppressed or denied. It is an opportunity to heal old wounds, unlock stagnation or release unexpressed energy - to free up the natural flow of energy and aliveness in our bodies. It is this freeing that potentially makes us more available to the fullness of our magnificence.
