Events - Movie Night

You are invited to join me for a movie screening on the third Thursday evening of each month. Each movie, relating to areas of sexuality, is intended to challenge and provoke discussion.

The intention is to use the film to provoke sharing and dialogue based on our internal processes triggered by the film i.e. it's not for critical analysis of the film but an exercise in self-awareness and expression.

RSVP to receive venue information if you are interested in attending; space is limited.
A contribution of R50 is suggested for refreshments, venue and facilitation.

• *** Next *** 18 March 2010 | Bitter Moon | A Roman Polanski film starring Hugh Grant, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner and Peter Coyote.

• 18 February 2010 | Beyond Vanilla | A documentary that explores sexual expression outside of vanilla sex. Vanilla (or bambi) sex is conventional sex according to standard conventional norms. Beyond Vanilla looks at the pain and pleasure of fetish and BDSM through interviews and demonstration. It is graphic, shocking and will challenge ideas of sex, pleasure and pain.

• 21 January 2010 | Secretary | "It deals in the way in which sex, love and power are all inter-related and I was very interested in doing a love story that was different and that would deal with these kinds of issues but not in a creepy way or a dark way but in a way that had a sort of lightness and beauty to it. I don't think that there's anything odd, at all, about what they're doing. I think while what they're doing is perhaps metaphorically bigger than the way many love relationships work in reality, that all relationships have these aspects." Moving Night is one of three monthly gatherings dealing with the theme of sexuality. Also scheduled are:

• Living Tantra on the first Thursday evening of each month, for anyone interested in an ongoing practice of Tantra, provides support, sharing and practice of basic Tantra exercises.

• The Breakfast Thing on the second Thursday of each month, an informal gatherings intended as a fluid conversation space to openly discuss relevant topics.
