Title:
Sexuality Reclaimed - Talk
When:
2010-04-21 18.30 h - 20.00 h
Where:
Phakalane - Cape Town

Description

Some learn of the birds and bees, other's by trial and error. When our elders, guardians, teachers and mentors know so little of their own sexuality, what chance do children have when reaching sexual maturity?

We grow up somewhat sexually dysfunctional. What little information we do receive is veiled in mystery and spiced with the threat of some intolerable life-long suffering. It's forbidden yet highly desired. At best we entertain ourselves with meagre and barely satisfying experiences. At worst we inflict feelings of inadequacy and frustration onto those we love. In this the genders remain polarised, deflated and unsupported.

With anecdotal stories, Stephen explores ideas about gender and sexuality, considering possibilities of intimacy and ecstasy where we reclaim and establish an integrated, honouring and celebratory relationship with our sexuality.

Speaker: Stephen Tredrea
Fee: by donation

Stephen gave a version of this talk at the First African Conference of Sacred Sexuality. Previously he has talked around this topic to women's groups wanting to hear about male sexuality.

It is to be followed on 15 May 2010 by a practical workshop for men, called The Masculine Identity, focusing on the possibilities that exist in establishing a new relationship to men's sexuality and a new identification with the masculine principle.

Stephen is in service as a catalyst for the experience of seekers in truth and awareness. He forms part of the Advait Tantra School under the guidance of Shakti.
