A talk on the Myth of Romantic Love had me thinking. The need to move beyond limited ideas about love and romance is not completely new. Yet still so many of us appear to remain stuck, struggling to realise romance fantasies - either searching desperately for the dream partner to fulfil and complete a sketchy picture, or struggling to hold an existing relationship from going so wrong, again.
Listening to Niall Campbell and Nicola Robins in Rain Only Falls into Beauty reminded me of an adolescent awareness I'd forgotten. The energy of chaos held an excitement, an anticipation of something to come. When things appeared stable and orderly, going well, I sensed a possible complacency, of becoming unaware.
Early one winter's morning on the way to work. Or was this work? Anyone who doesn't agree that Cape Town in Winter can be magic has not lived here. (Larger images available for view)
