Movie Night - Secretary

SecretaryThree regular events are being initiated for 2010. The first of these is Movie Night, a movie screening and discussion scheduled for the third Thursday evening of each month. Films screened will relate to different areas of sexuality and are intended to challenge and provoke discussion.

Thursday, 21 January 2010 will see Secretary, a 2002 BDSM-themed, romantic comedy-drama directed by Steven Shainberg and starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader.

From an interview with director Steven Shainberg by Lions Gate Films):

"It deals in the way in which sex, love and power are all inter-related and I was very interested in doing a love story that was different and that would deal with these kinds of issues but not in a creepy way or a dark way but in a way that had a sort of lightness and beauty to it. I don't think that there's anything odd, at all, about what they're doing. I think while what they're doing is perhaps metaphorically bigger than the way many love relationships work in reality, that all relationships have these aspects."

Contact Stephen for venue information if you are interested in attending; space is limited.
