This is a time of milestones and transitions. Ten years ago I founded Comduit with a personal vision of leaving the safety of employment to force my entrepreneurial hand. This developed into a productive business, building and supporting some amazing Internet websites in collaboration with many talented and inspiring individuals. As of April 2010 I have stopped trading under this name and handed over current operations to an (ex)employee to run independently.
It is not exactly how I imagined things to turn out. However, as I reflect on the time that has passed, the varied experiences I have had and learning I have gained, and as I consider myself now in relation to all those younger versions of Stephen, I can only see that how it turns out to be is 100% perfect!
One year ago, coinciding with the anniversary of my mother's death, I opened StephenTredrea.com with the post Stephen steps up to the virtual soap-box. It seems auspicious that it is this month that marks a somewhat official transition into new possibilities and an exciting month ahead.
April started with Living Tantra (read what we did), followed by my running the Two Oceans Half Marathon (21km) which I finished comfortably in under 2 hours. The primary value of this was raising R1095 (as of sending this newsletter - please consider contributing further) which will be donated for the benefit of South Africa's AIDS orphans. I am thankful to all those who contributed and encouraged me in various ways.
Coming up this month:
-
Shakti and I have been invited to talk at the 8 O'Clock Club this Wednesday evening, 7 April. The topic is 'The Art of Conscious Sexuality', introducing sexual energy as a force of love and spiritual awakening. It is followed on Friday 16 April with an evening workshop on the same topic at the Feminine Divine dance studio.
-
There is no Breakfast Thing this month as I will head off to the Drakensberg for the Dragon's Nectar Love Retreat starting Thursday evening, 8 April. This is for those who are ready to explore a deeper experience of love's energy and will also take place in the Cederberg during May.
-
For Movie Night on 18 April we who Eyes Wide Shut, a Stanley Kubrick film based on the 1926 novella Traumnovelle (Dream Story) by Arthur Schnitzler starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
-
On 21 April I will talk on Sexuality Reclaimed at Phakalane's monthly fire-side evening. I will be exploring ideas about gender and sexuality, considering possibilities of intimacy and ecstasy where we reclaim and establish an integrated, honouring and celebratory relationship with our sexuality. This introduces, in part, a practical workshop for men, called The Masculine Identity, focusing on the possibilities that exist in establishing a new relationship to men's sexuality and a new identification with the masculine principle.
-
The month ends with an introductory retreat in the Cederberg which is an ideal opportunity to get introduced to the approach and method of Tantra as a practice conscious sexuality.
In the beauty of being,
Stephen
