February Newsletter 2010

Stephen in the Karroo during a stormI'm just back from a weekend retreat in the Cederberg where I've been dancing, breathing and meditating in all manner of forms to discover and meet myself in fresh ways. The intention I held was a letting go of my artificially maintained barriers that create separateness, so we may meet in the unapologetic raw truth of our being.

This is the first Dances with Chaos newsletter! As with my website I see this as part of my own process. It's an opportunity to share with you my current state of being and what lies in the month ahead. Sign-up if you are interested in receiving this monthly email.

A two week break, away in the Little Karroo, gave me many opportunities to play, rest, reflect and envision. I met and conversed with my current struggles to find the learning, the opportunities to step more fully into myself. The more I become aware of how I create separateness and avoid facing myself the more anguished I become. Arriving back I've been overwhelmed and exhausted by my monsters, but since paying more attention to being in nature and raising my body's fitness I've been more organised and pragmatic. The monsters are still there and I don't necessarily know the forms my current situation will take moving forward but I do feel up to meeting and matching the energy, not in force but in allowing and giving.

My first event of the year, screening the film Secretary, went very well and provided a rich source of reflection. Some notes on this will soon find there way onto the website. Movie Night is one of three monthly events planned to bring people together in the spirit of self-awareness and transformation by acknowledging and embracing our Eros. It is followed by Living Tantra this Thursday evening and The Breakfast Thing next week Thursday morning.

The next retreat, an introduction to Tantric lovemaking, is scheduled for the weekend of the 19th to 21st of February at Gecko Creek in the Cederberg. This retreat is an experiential introduction to the basic principles of Tantric lovemaking. The focus is on opening the body to greater presence and sensitivity through deepening the breath, raising sensory awareness and allowing movement.

I will also start putting attention to SexDialogue scheduled for 27 March. SexDialogue is a meeting and conversation space for individuals who find personal expression of their sexuality in different interest groups and communities. It is an opportunity to meet others with an interest in sexuality from diverse areas, an opportunity to share, experience and manifest a future where a healthy integration of sexuality is embraced, honoured and celebrated with the fullness of our potential as human beings.

To increase my fitness I've been swimming and jogging a little every other day. And to maintain a practice in this I've set a goal of running the Two Oceans half marathon on the 3rd of April. That's in 60 days! I'll be joining and running with the Endurance Challenge Charity Trust who raise awareness of and funds for orphaned and affected child victims of South Africa's HIV/AIDS pandemic. Consider donating to this cause and let me know if you do as I will be maintaining a log on this website, Facebook and Twitter.

In the beauty of being,

Stephen
