Both recent Tantra retreats, one in the Drakensberg and the other suspended high above Cape Town's False Bay, were deeply moving. It touches the core of my being to bear witness to the deep transformation individuals undergo with such willingness to face their vulnerability.
During one of the breakfasts, listing to a beautiful North African composition, I was struck with sadness at how conflict destroys when differences between identities and beliefs create an atmosphere of fear and threat. When our hearts are closed and protected we cannot appreciate the wonder and richness that rises from these differences. It touched an old sensitivity of mine which would have left me feeling powerless and in despair. This time, in the presence of open and loving individuals, it was different. Yes, I was sad, but being in the experience of this work empowers me with a sense of hope and gratitude.
In addition to the last retreat, the first Masculine Identity workshop took place. This has sparked some encouraging interest. It will certainly take place again, in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, and will very likely be extended to include some surprise elements. Also, I've been asked to create a two day workshop for men, coinciding with the Sex and Consciousness conference later this year. Let me know if you would like to be informed of these events when scheduled.
The exciting news for the coming two months is that Shakti has asked me to facilitate Blissdance in her absence (as she extends the reach of her teaching to distant lands). Blissdance is free-form dance guided by the progression of a theme and of the music itself. Each dance is introduced with an interpretation but in it you find our own response as the music moves you from within.
Coming up in June:
- Every Wednesday evening, Blissdance at The Forge, Kalk Bay.
- Thursday 3rd, Living Tantra. Consider this a space for support in your daily Tantra practice or to simply observe and learn - I will be shaking up the format slightly.
- Thursday 10th, The Breakfast Thing at The Annex, Kalk Bay. We'll be discussing how intimacy and vulnerability relate to each other.
- Thursday 17th, Movie Night showing Bliss which provides wonderful insight into my work with conscious sexuality and sexual healing.
In the beauty of being,
Stephen
