Shakti and I began October travelling the Garden Route on our way to the Conscious Sexuality retreat in Knysna. Over the first few days we were welcomed into peoples homes for sessions and enjoyed the wonderful generosity of those we meet. The depth of vulnerability allowed, as the raw truth of experience and beliefs are shared, continuously warmed my heart.
The area feels like a place of soul work. Immersed in nature, the rolling beauty appears to midwife deep, personal exploration. I treasured the experience, revealing in each moment.
Yet, there was also loss, pain, anger and sadness in the stories we heard. I felt this too, along with those of my own story at a time of difficult transition and great uncertainty. Scattered across the landscape of life there is both wounding AND hope. It reminds me that the depth of my own experience appears richer and more authentic when I am willing to risk and feel everything, that in the chaos is the gift that gives rise the new.
A friend shared these moving lyrics from the song Let Me Fall by Josh Groban:
Let me fall
Let me climb
There’s a moment when fear
And dreams must collide
Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
October is a quiet month beyond this weekend's retreat. I will use the time to prepare for the On Being Man workshops in November and write my paper to present at December's Conference for Sexuality and Consciousness Educators.
Events scheduled for the rest of the year:
-
1-4 October, cushioned in a serene forest near Knysna, sees another Conscious Sexuality Retreat providing an introduction into the art of sacred sexuality. This powerful retreat is suitable for both beginners and repeat participants.
-
There will be an informal breakfast chat on 14 October at The Annex (behind the Kalk Bay bookshop). This is a good space to say hi and/or ask questions.
-
Blissdance is to be facilitated by myself on the first two Wednesdays of November (3rd and 10th). If you're feeling like you need to get into your body and move it then this is a fantastic opportunity.
-
In Johannesburg AND Cape Town, during November, are two-day men's workshops called On Being Man. These are being held in conjunction with Secrets of the Jade Egg workshops for women. More information on the men's workshop will be available soon - I've had some interesting discussions with a number of men and women and am excited by what is taking form.
-
The 2nd annual Conference for Sexuality and Consciousness Educators is being held this year in Cape Town's Kalk Bay in early December. It is followed immediately by two training programs:Spiritual Sexual Shamanic Practitioners training and Tantric Training: Into the Depths.
Ask me if there's anything in this newsletter you'd like more information about.
I look forward to seeing or hearing from you.
In the beauty of being,
Stephen
