Realizing potential...An analogy I'm playing with is that of the human being compared to a battery. Batteries have both positive and negative poles and do not function without them. The power, or potential (from the Latin word for power, potent), exists as the energy released when there is flow between these poles. While nothing flows a battery is only potential and otherwise effectively dead.

It can be compared with human beings in that we all have 'negative' (our wounding or shadow) and 'positive' (our magnificence or light) aspects. The distance between our 'poles' is our potential, our power. The greater the distance between them, the more opportunity for flow, the greater the potential, and without both there simply is no potential.

To realise our capacity, to be alive in a very real sense, there must be both aspects and flow or movement between the two. This is the work of being human. The energy released is inherently the act of creation.

I play with this because winter has been a time of sitting deep in my wounding, in my own chaos. At the same time I feel potential being called from within me - I see my light reflected all around me by everything I encounter.

I have two choices: stay in my wounding and continue to sabotage my magnificence or, do the work of shifting between one and the other with self-compassion and love. It's not easy. But then, consciously and actively working is the value, the energy of creation. I develop a curiosity for the future I'm realising and continue to dance with my chaos.
