Here's a strange thing - my plans for this website for all to see. I like to keep myself directed (way too many rabbit holes) but also believe there may be interest. This page is updated as things change.
Technical plans
My main functional and technical priorities are to get all blog-like features working.
First an aside to provide context for some of the plans... while this website is broadly a personal website it is also a live testing ground. The technology used is an open source content management system called Joomla. This website is Joomla powered BUT it's a modified version that allows multiple websites to run off one installation of Joomla.
- Migrate website into current version of the Amibe multi-site
- Allow articles to be pulled into a blog layout from different categories based on keyword - to be used for the 'about' link
- Redo the template (additional live testing for another project still to be posted - the website should look the same but will be faster)
- Require registration and login to access restricted articles DONE: Whenever a restricted page is requested, if the visitor is not logged in, there is an option to login or register.
- Find a solution to emails from the enquiry form landing in my SPAM folder SOLVED: I use GMail and you can create a filter with the option 'Never send it to Spam'.
- Visitor comments DONE: I've kept this as simple as possible and will re-evalute as it's used. There are still some minor issues to resolve.
- Implement SEF Url management - although the site is already using SEF Urls I have no control and the numbers that are inserted are bothering me for reasons I won't explain DONE
- Add tagging features with search (and some other clever features to assist with content management) DONE
- Find a solution to access archived (past) events DONE
Topical plans
These are broad areas of interest to me and have no particular priority - I will add to these as new thoughts occur:
Environment, Technology and Business
- Using Ubuntu and related applications for your business and personal use
- Solution options to specific challenges in Joomla
- Environmental awareness and sustainable action in your business and personal practice
- Leasons from the open source movement for business and relationships
Relationships, Sexuality and Spirituality
- Lessons from Tantra in addressing relationship challanges without blowing your mind
- Bringing sexual consciousness into your spiritual awareness when it's been completely ignored
- What it means to me to be a Daka
- How I understand Tantra in the context of my life
- Observations about the ebb and flow of my desire
- Masturbation re-visited and re-viewed
- Fantasy - in and out of relationships
- Using imagination and fantasy to acknowledge and release en-expressed emotion
- Empathy and compassion in relationships
I would love to read your suggestions, feedback or comments on this.
Update 2010-04-05
Added migrating site into the current version of Amibe as the next priority.
Update 2009-06-14
Added SEF Url management as the next priority and esculated keyword tagging and search.
Update 2009-06-04
Added that registration will be required for restricted articles - I won't restrict registration but sometimes hurdles are valuable. I realised I was hesitating to publish a piece written that reveals personal aspects of me that are sensitive topics. Having slept on it, and sensing into my emotions around this, I feel that a registration at least allows me to inform readers that restricted articles do reveal personal information and then there is a choice. It reminds me of one of my favourite retorts: "Don't ask questions you don't want answers for."
